I’ve been trying to get better at “just because” gifts. Last month, I sent my friend a small package with a few of her favorite snacks, a cute mug, and a handwritten note. She said it was the best surprise she’d gotten in a while! It really just made her day and showed her I was thinking of her.

I love the idea of giving experiences rather than things. My wife and I don’t really exchange physical gifts for anniversaries anymore—we go on a weekend trip instead. It’s so much more meaningful for us because we create memories together, and it’s something we both look forward to.

Great post! I completely agree—gifting should be more about the thought than the cost. I remember giving my best friend a personalized leather journal for her birthday. She loves to write, and it was something I knew she’d cherish. She still uses it, and every time she writes in it, she sends me a picture. That moment is one I’ll never forget.
